In old times,"kirmasoq" or village parties were associated with saints whose memory was thus commemorated. The girls would sing and boys would look for the ones to court. One could travel through the whole Setomaa from kirmess to kirmess. Then the tradition faded, but is now enlivened in every corner of Setomaa.
In old times, songs were learned from mothers by listening. Nowadays, songs are learned from paper or CD-s
Tsibihärbläseq are girls and boys from mostly the Obinitsa area.
